Challenge:
Newcrest Mining purchased a special outdoors Eilbeck Crane to upgrade the gold mining operations at LIHIR Island to 1 million ounce gold per week! The crane has got 6m cantilever on one side that provides capability of lifting from outside of the mega structure. The crane operates with a motorised cable reeler that provides 80 meters of travel. The other interesting capability of the Eilbeck Crane is to detect any foreign object that is interrupting the crane long travel along the runways. This function slows down and stops the crane at any time from any distance to ensure the operational safety!
